Lewis Capaldi to Extend Break from Touring

Lewis Capaldi has revealed his intention to continue his hiatus from touring, citing improvements in his health during the six-month break. The Scottish singer-songwriter initially announced in June that he would be taking an indefinite break from touring due to vocal struggles experienced during a Glastonbury performance.

On New Year's Eve, Capaldi provided a detailed update to his fans via Instagram, sharing that he has been "working with some incredible professionals to help me learn about and cope better with my Tourette’s and anxiety issues," describing the progress as "great."

Capaldi expressed his happiness, stating, "I’ve noticed a marked improvement in both since I decided to take some time off back in June."

To celebrate the New Year, the 27-year-old singer announced the release of an extended version of his second album, "Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent," featuring five new songs.

Capaldi shared his plans, saying, "For now, I’m going to continue taking some time to carry on looking after myself, maybe writing some music and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life."

Ensuring his well-being is a priority, Capaldi added, "I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100% before getting back out there again properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything!"

Expressing gratitude to his fans for their support, Capaldi acknowledged the overwhelming response he has received, describing it as "nothing I’ve ever experienced and has made me more excited than ever to return to doing what I love at some point in the not too distant future."

Reflecting on his journey, Capaldi acknowledged the impact of fame on his mental and physical well-being in a Netflix documentary earlier this year. The documentary received a National Television Award (NTA) and has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Music Film.

In a heartfelt message, Capaldi addressed the fears he had about disappointing his audience and falling short of expectations, expressing gratitude for the continued resonance of the songs from his latest album, "Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent," even without active promotion or touring.

The album, which initially held the title for the biggest opening of the year in the UK with 95,000 chart units during its first week on sale, relinquished the position to Taylor Swift's re-recording of her 2014 album "1989."
